OMG create your own Star Wars Pod racers
(As seen in episode 1)
Since Alice in wonderland is so big at the moment how about a Wizard of Oz mini. Would be fun to put your own spin on a few of those characters.
ooohhh a wizard of oz mini that is a good idea
For the next mini I was thinking of something low key though and get back to the mini spec roots.
hell yeah 700 tri's and a 256 diffuse or there abouts. ace
You know it seems to me that just about every nationality has it's own folk stories or old stories of beasts and monsters. I think it could be a cool idea to research and create a creature from a folk story or myth from your home country.
I guess it is a bit of a weird suggestion but I love myths and legends and was just wanting to hear or see a few new ones.
in the general mini suggestions thread a few moths back i suggested "Bill and Ted's totally excellent low-poly 80's adventure" and i still think it would be awesome. basically 80's movie character or group in low poly form and not restricted to action stars ie the Terminator or Marty Mcfly would work. and maybe slightly different specs for groups like The Breakfest Club, Goonies, or A-team.
RTS Vehicles? RTS Buildings? RTS soldiers, or group of?
Like Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 units, showing the similarities but tier differences.
Both sci-fi, fantasy, realism, steampunk, whatever.
Hello there i m new on the forum the idea of the of the wizard of oz sounds really good, i was thinking of myth creatures or something like that, i dont know if there was this challenge previously
For something a little different we could be given a black ink blot sort of thing, then artists have to take that blob and translate what into a concept art for a character/3d art of a character.
I was thinking last night.
Rude Awakenings
" A young Billy lay asleep in his bed. All of a sudden he wakes to a bang coming from his closet. The sound is getting louder and louder, the closet doors being to shake and green light begins to seep out of the cracks. Billy is terriefied, he can't make a sound. The doors burst open and the room is full of light. Wind comes billowing out and before him he sees the creature that haunts his nightmares! It is ............"
Just a thought. Think it could make for a sweet little mini comp.
I haven't read through this thread, but this idea just popped in my head and I don't recall seeing any challenges like this in the past.
Create a character good enough to eat!
Design a character (male, female, animal, creature) that represents something you'd love to eat or just an interesting food. The challenge will mainly be based on the texturing to make the character look like the food it's representing or somehow incorporated into the character.
.....or just food themed?
Maybe I'm watching too much food network![]()
It might be a little late now but two years ago (wow, was it that long?!?) we did a challenge to come up with a fantasy character participating in the summer Olympics. but now that the winter Olympics are upon us, we could do something similar with a whole new set of sports.
ha ha.. that sounds like a good idea.
mmt-yes![]()
Walrus-HELL YES:excite:
Walrus's idea should totally be up
and then yoursCUZ I REALLY WANNA DO THAT TOO
Sounds good Walrus count me in.
I was thinking about "Household helpers" Basically you take a household item and create a creature that uses it or does the job for you.
eg: a dish washing ogre, or a shoehorn elf, or even a hair brushing pixie.
The possibilities are almost endless.
winter olympics sounds great
So I was thinking that with Domwar being postponed, maybe we can do it justice by having a "big" mini?
Just a regular mini really, but maybe with a couple extra weeks in it, and like 70% of the budget of the last Domwar.
I think it'll be fun
I would agree with you BigJohn... however... let's wait until after March 15th to start as GDC will be over then.![]()
yeah good call
