oldschool brothers grimm. The real stuff. The stories used to scare children.
oldschool brothers grimm. The real stuff. The stories used to scare children.
Here's a couple:
creatures of the bottomless pit
minions of hell
when the lights are turned off
behind the gates
metal and flesh
monsters of legend
angels vs demons
Bob's Used Vehicles of Hades
undead pokemon ;P
General comp related suggestion: How about having a subforum with a sticky chronicling all the past main comps, and a separate sticky for the minicomps.
2 reasons:
A: easy lookup of past winners and contest themes
B: makes for a theme based WIP forum. If you missed the comp, or didn't complete it, post it there as you get it done. Not sure how many would take advantage of that, but it could be a neat resource.
Future Minicomp suggestion: Take the previous month's (or any) 2d minicomp, pick from the entrants, and create their concept in 3d.
Halloween Minicomp idea: Tim Burton, Johnnen Vasquez, or Roman Dirge style character/small scene
Create your own tombstone (grave, coffin, etc...) xD
Ninja Pirate Monkeys!
I second the Megaman boss idea. Create your own, or base it on an original, since there are so many.
I'd love to see a minicomp for Warhammer or Warnhammer 40k with a tri limit around the 1000 mark. Partly inspired from Stomrunner's mini from a while back: http://www.gameartisans.org/contests...inals_308.html and the painted models I have at my desk at work.
@Vailias - there already is a minicomp / comp page that shows you the previous winners and entrants : http://www.gameartisans.org/gamecon/archives/index.php
how 'bout Ghost...every place on this planet has their own ghost stories and styles.
it would be nice if we collect many ghosts around the world and put them here..., share the story where they come from, why they become ghosts and how to kill them etc... and then we call the minicomp : "GHOSTOLOGY"
but lets think more ahead......
any ideas for a thanksgiving mini
here some
chibi indian or cowboy
best turkey
biggest dinner ou of 3k tris only
or thanksgiving avatar
The Mini-me challenge (dont know if its already been done)
Make a mini version of yourself, or maybe for halloween, yourself in a costume of something
well if its going to be halloween themed
zombie bust- the possibilities are endless
for Halloween, possibly a classic costume contest. model a little boy or girl and give them a trick or treat costume.
haunted house
vampires
werewolves
??
Folklore monster? Not really halloween related, but I'd honestly rather see non-genetic halloween stuffs than just pumpkins every year![]()
How about:
- The worst yet coolest B-movie monsters (think: "From hell it came" and "the little shop of horrors")
- Cute little dead girls (Lenore, emily, etc...)
- Mentally distorted leprechauns with raging psychosis attacks.
- 'Freaks!' (1890's freakshows)
- Bedbugs
- What lurks beneath yer bed.
Too much coffee, too many ideas.
I like the Halloween costume idea, that's what it's really about after all, not actual animate corpses and zombies, that's more just literal horror.
also like the ghostology suggestion, lots of creative potential there, varying themes and styles etc.
Yah I really like the child costume idea as well.
I'd like to see something either really scary or whimsical,
Whimsical :
What halloween baddies do the rest of the year
Domestic poultergeists (sp?) , such as, If something where to haunt my toaster, what would it look like?
Yourself as a zombie (maybe cartoon or stylized)
Or just plain the scariest beastie/horror movie creature you can come up with, in low poly.
I too would also like to see a competition for all the models for comps we started but never had enough time to finish.... We might need to allow multiple entries for some of us for that one.......
I assume the next mini-comp will be announced in the next day or so, as it being a halloween event and all, would give us 2 weeks in time for a Trickortreat finish! Have we got a short list to choose from? Is this going to be a theme voted on by the artists? Could be an interesting change to try out.
