Hellstern First off great piece. Be sure to work in layers. Block out the color for each major piece as a separate layer, that way you'll be able to color correct what you want. Generally I work from the background forward. I also try really hard to avoid noodling the little details before I've got a good idea as to the base. You'll work your lighting and color base in tandem, that way one won't get to far a head of the other. You'll probably end up with a dozen layers or so before you'll get to the noodling. Everyone works different, but let's say you like a cape in blood red and spend a few hours painting it out. The you think, "hey maybe I like it in blue" So you'll paint a different layer. At this point you'll be able to switch between them to see what really worked in the end. It takes more time, because you're painting the area twice, but in the end it gives a truer idea of the final. You can also start by color correcting the grayscale to get you into the ballpark before hand. Hope that helps some.
@SpikeCB, thanks man, I felt a lvl 55 should look the part, don't know if i overdid it, hehe

Orcs are apparently very popular, aside from the female characters I guess, so I hope to do an Orc one if time permits. More updates soon![]()
Some more details, and a first color study.
I think he should be more scary, as a death knight... I'll work more on the armor, there are many parts that are to be defined.
