    Dominance War IV | Ozelon | midnight marauder

    hey guys just wanted to upload my first sketches of the cyborg i wanted to work on. I had to take photos of my sketches cause i don't have a scanner right now. the quality is pretty poor sorry :P.

    I'll work on the character a little more. I'm not really happy with the arms yet. Also don't know if i want the cheesy gun arm. i may go ahead and model the lowpoly anyway and play around with some ideas in max.

    Anyway i hope this time around I'll be able to finish my entry.

    C&c of course very welcome!

    And by the way the title isn't really fitting but it's a song from the great Fat Freddy's Drop. I'll think of something better later.

    looks really cool! I like the 2nd idea abit better
    I like the shield arm, I think if would be cool if you work the tech stuff more into the body as a transition but knowing you, you will probably go nuts in zbrush !!

    I like the oversized legs but something makes me want to say to make them larger... play with their proportions a bit. I kind of like the robotic fist more than I like the laser arm thing. Just needs a bit more love IMO.

    Kennymcb: thx man. i agree the second sketch turned out quit a bit nicer in most areas. the shield arm will probably turn into a shield kinda hand.

    seven: i'm nor sure about making the legs even bigger... i still want the upper body as much in focus and as important as the legs. if i make them too big the upper body may not read well anymore but i'll give it a try. thx

    triatami: yeah it all has to fit too each other still not sure if i want more organic armor or very edgy. i'll definetly play around with it a lot more!

    anyway, back for a little update. so far everything is still very rough and the whole model will probably change a lot. this is just a base to figure out proportions and general feal of the model.
    the arms will be asymmetrical right now everything is mirrored. i'll probably change the transition from the mechanical arm to upper body quite a bit as well. not sure if i want that much armor in that area.

    Looking cool man, yeah!! everything is looking solid atm, proportion is nice, the only thing right now i would say is taht it looks like it wearing a brest plate armor, i kinda like it better in the concept where it is meat and skin, and knowing your zbrush skills i am sure you can pull off more interesting thing with fresh than a brest plate. other than that its aweasome!!

    and BTW change your signiture to DW4 entry I keep clicking on that !!grr haha!!

    Sadoshi: i agree, less chest armor will look better. i reduced it a little but i may go with even less.
    ooops just noticed that people actually posted in my last DW thread cause i still had it in my signature... my bad sorry. changed it.

    ScudzAlmighty: haha thanks for the link. that guy is gross. i'll think about it in the next couple of days. maybe i'll make him a little more fat but he is still supposed to be threatening and agile so not sure about it yet.

    Ritorian: yeah i won't go as far, maybe a little bit bigger...

    here is my update for today. it didn't change a lot. i was mainly working on the tedious leg joint parts. the arms are still mirrored and i didn't get much work on the hands done but i'll post another update tomorrow.

    what do you guys think?

    should i give him a gunarm or a morningstar like melee weapon? i'm not sure yet...

    Yay to taking out the chest plate WOOTS!!

    I think i would go with a gunarm, like a cannon or something big that he can just as a club, coz getting punch with a cannon hurts. at the moment i dont know if i would change his body size, coz i can kinda image you adding alot of weight on the body where it is being attrached to the machine in zbrush, he would probably be abit heaviler than now

    For a weapon, I think you could just focus on making his gauntlets as epic as possible. But, I haven't

    JakeLV426: haha hhmmm.... yeah all the guys and girls on my team are as good. we learn from each other a lot. it's great to have all my talented coworkers around. i'm just the oldest guy maybe that's why i'm the lead for my team :P.

    i had a conversation with my buddy tony about the weapon. during that conversation the idea came up that the morning star could be an underwater mine. I really like that idea cause it gives me more flexibility when it comes to creating a dynamic pose. on top of that sadoshi mentioned and i think he is absolutely right that my guy looks more like a brute melee fighter. the cannon would take away from that.

    on top of that he could in emergency situations (like a bee) activate the mine when striking and blow himself but also lots of other enemies up :P

    anyway here is a little update. mainly fixed geo in the last 2 days, therfore i'm not much further...

    on top of that i drew some sketches for the head gear. this is somewhere close to what i'm shooting for.

    what do you guys think?

    Looks cool! Good point about the cannon. I think the headgear is a nice touch but are you gonna add some cables/connectors from his head like in concept? Also, are you going for more cyberpunk or steampunk (I think steampunk might look cool for this character)? Nice job though!

    Can I see a wireframe of your geometry? Just for kicks really, it's actually pretty easy to see what's going on, and it looks good

    Good point on the morningstar, that your buddy made. So are you going to have him swinging around a live undersea mine? That sounds pretty farkin cool to me!
