    Dominance War IV - 2D - asstornado - Hellraiser?

    Hello!
I'm a late starter but I'm finally in. I'm disapointed i didnt finish last year. This year i will fo sho. Here are some of my initial sketches. I also did some designs. I'm not sure which one I want to do yet... thats what you guys are here for!

I'm doing the demon lord. My initial idea was to have a demon with a bottom torso made of limbs, bone and flesh. They would create a snake like body that used the arms to move. He would be enourmous and use all those arms sticking out of the snake body to tear apart enemies. I got caught up in thinking about that so i came up with some more designs too. I plan on getting time to work on this sunday, so yeah!

Very Slick! I preferred A and D of the initial sketches but I'm sure you've got some solid ideas for B, nice1.

Neat sketches! I think you could push the arms thicker on this last piece: They come across as very brittle because they're so thin, especially compared to the head horns, tail, etc. Also: Any ideas for anything to fill the space in the midsection? The lower section of sketch A was nice too - might be nice to see how it works with this top, maybe?
Anyhow, really nice work so far. Good luck!

Thanks for the crits so far.

mattforsyth: Thanks! I'm really enjoying this one.

Samson Brown: I think that B has the most potential for a dynamic pose for the final shot, thats why i went with him.

walrus :I definitely thought that he was lacking some meat to him, I was planning for him to be very lanky and creepy rather than musclular, I'll play with some thicker arms though and see where that goes. For his midsection I was going to make it dark energy.

    I'll have some updates soon.

Damn your sketches and linework are outstanding, like mine were once when i wanted to be comic artist. And I loved doing short one-page stories(to lazy to do two-page i guess) pencil and ink pen. Ownd it, loved it, felt at home.

Came to CA.org and everything pwns digital.... pffff didn't like the wacom feel and especially losing the line art to speed up the colour art, grr.

But to be honest I gave up what I enjoyed most to improve in other areas. And over time and persistence you start enjoying the things you don't usually favour. I only talking from an whole artists point of view, not just competition, I think you should push towards colour, to give your creativity new fields to play in. You got line art in the bag, time to move forward.

Interesting species design, love good designs

Fantastic sketches! You got some good stuff going on here. I actually liked the A sketch best on your first batch of doodles.

Not that your latest post isn't awesome, on the contrary. I like the missing abdomen part, which you will no doubt fill with the demons evil energy. I'm not sure if I'm liking the legs though. Seems now that he would have a very hard time staying in balance.

Man, my post has been buried.
Here are some updates finally. I did some more sketches and color comps to flesh out more of his design on his bone plates and musculature, etc. I really took in to consideration all of the feedback that I got and tried to adress the problems. I beefed him up a bit and which allowed me more surface area to do details and a more interesting design. I plan on starting thumbs for the final pose this week so hopefully some more updates soon!

Beautiful design and line-work! I love that back! The faces are nice and scary, but the horns on the faces aren't as extreme as in your other shots - like the back view and color version - and I liked the extreme curl to them. Good luck with the rest!

Thanks for all the feedback guys, it helps me to move along
I worked on designing the head further, and playing with more of the color.
I felt that head was a ittle plain before. I pushed the details further and added demonic writing and scripture on his "bone armor". I also worked the Logo into his skull design. Wanted to make him a little more ugly and menacing. chugging along.

This is starting to look mean. I really like your black and white linework. It really looks like it could straight out of the ancient pages of a Tome of Demons. Nice touches on the skull and it's glowing power tattoos as well.
