As Whiteguardian requested, I did some weapon sketches. These are only to replace the .454 Casull. Sketches for the western Jackal will be coming later.

    1) Smith and Wesson Casull: based on an old Smith and Wesson break-top revolver. The gun opens in half so the cylinder can be loaded at once.

    2) Casull Peacemaker: based on a Colt Peacemaker.

    3) Volcanic Casull: based on a Volcanic pistol. Unique in that it was the only lever action pistol. Was the predecessor to the Winchester repeating rifle. Fired special ammunition called "Rocketball" bullets. This was before contained metal cartridges and the "Rocketball" was an early form of it. Basically, the bullet is elongated and hollowed out. It is filled with gunpowder and the bullet itself becomes the cartridge.

    4) Cap and Ball Casull: based on a blackpowder revolver.

I like no 1. Is it the true gun? I meant the name is true?
If i may suggest. Try to make a curve on the front part of the gun no 1
    Keep it up dude

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll flesh out a few more ideas later on.

I decided I want to include Baskerville into the final illustration. For those of you who don't know anything about Alucard, he can summon familars. Baskerville is his most popular familar and takes the form of a large black dog with many eyes.

So I came up with two ideas for it:

    Nice familiars!

hmmmm-it would depend on what the final layout would be. If he was mounted on Baskerville in some twisted and morphed way, Id say the horse version.

If he is standing or solo in some fashion, I'd say have the coyote Baskerville with him, like morphing out of his cape or something wicked like that.

Anyway, nice progress, keep it coming.

I'd like to do a scene with him riding, but I'm not sure if I can get enough of him in the picture. The rules say you need 90% of the character showing. I think I'll be alright with a somewhat profile shot of him on the Baskerville horse, since only one of his legs will be covered.

Anyway, did some more sketches for the .454 Casull

Did a quick pose idea with Alucard on a Baskerville horse. I also want to try to incorporate ghouls into it, so it looks like Alucard is fighting them.

Been a rough weekend for me. I was a bit too out of it to draw anything really, so I'm jumping back into this. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten anything drawn that I like yet, so I'm gonna throw up some pose ideas I got from manga and OVAs

    Thanks Camberry.

That's only just a colored sketch for how I want him to look, not a final illustration. I plan n using a lot more angle and lighting to it I think.

Now I can get to doing poses. Man, I don't know why I can't get better sketches done for this. Alucard is one of my favorite manga characters of all time, but when it comes time to draw him I'm stumped. Even when I went to pencil and paper I was having a hard time.

    I don't know. Maybe I'm in a bit of artist's block lately.

I like the layout idea with the crazy horse! ^__^ That is an excellent concept!

I would say.. he is in total control of that horse.. I dont' think he needs to hold on to the reigns... he can let go and fire with another weapon.

He seems a little to real... IMHO Alucard always moves in un-natural ways... maybe try to contort his body on the pony a bit more!

    Thanks to everyone who posted.

Here's another pose. I went with him off the horse in this one because I'm questioning whether enough of Alucard is showing for the requirements. Still added the horse though.

I thought that Alucard looks very relaxed when he's shooting, so having him with the one gun pointing while resting his arm on his shoulder seemed very much like something he would do.

I'm not technically throwing the riding idea out, but I'm trying to find a more crazy horse to work with.

Hello, very nice choice, I'll say try to think of the character in a more specific context, how his environment affect his appearence (social, etc..), right now I kind of see him a little plain, as for the guns, in my opinion, number 4 looks really neat, keep at it, you're in the right direction!!:thumb:

You have a point Carasuman. I'm not getting as wild and crazy with his positions that I want. I think I'm trying too hard and getting stressed out about positions that all i keep coming up with is these static, uninteresting poses.

I hope this latest update is more interesting to you guys:

Oh! I really like the pusheyod, dramatic angles here!
    Although it the brief said
"Remember: This concept is made to showcase the personality, colors and style or your character so it can be recreated in 3d for a Game Title. Hiding body pieces, or making really strange angles or poses might not be your best solution."

It IS showing off a lot of his costume.. but I don't really understand the message the brief is saying... To me it seems like the turn around would be what was used to make a 3D model... while the main picture would be an exciting illustration... But... what they say is what they say...

Arg.. I hope I didn't confuse you with my worry.

I still think that is a COOL layout.

You do make a point Raz, but like you said, the brief states that it might not be in your best interest. It's not required to make poses that are easy angles.

Alucard is a crazy character that shifts and warps with all perspectives. I like this pose the most because it illustrates Alucard as a character best. Static poses aren't really Alucard's forte.

So... what I think they're trying to say is "make it so it can be reproduced three-dimensionally with ease." But, that's all subjective. Reproducing is all up to the person doing it, whether that's you or someone else. Someone else should be able to look at the illustration and come up with their own translation of it. One artist doesn't make a game character. It takes a slew of artists to do it, with their own versions. Not everyone is going to have the same view, but that's what gives the character the personality when brought to life.

The way I see it, it's better to make a great piece of art to illustrate the character's mood, then translate their 3-dimensions in a model sheet.

But, that's my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own thoughts on the subject. I'm personally gonna stick with this pose because I like it.
