Event Details:

On behalf of Game Artisans Workshop, we would like to invite you to attend a special evening on Thursday, June 16th 2011.

Come join us for a must see Show & Tell evening with Vincent Joyal; Senior Environment artist at Square-Enix Eidos, who also placed within the Top 8 Champions of the prestigious international art competition, Unearthly Challenge, 2 years in a row. Then we top the evening with C.J. Goldman, a special effects artist and winner of the Gemini award for best achievement in special effects make-up.

From 6:00pm to 7:15pm

The evening begins with Vincent Joyal, as he takes us into an in-depth journey into 3-D Enviroments. Vincent Joyal has worked in the game industry for over 8 years. He has worked for companies such as Strategy First, Ubisoft, Liquid and is now currently working at Square-Enix Eidos as a Senior Environment artist on the long awaited "Thief" project. He has assimilated various techniques throughout his career in California, Canada and Morocco. During his time in the Industry he worked on titles such as Prince of Persia, Rainbow Six, Thief, Disciples and more. Vincent placed within the top 8 Champions of the prestigious online art competition, Unearthly Challenge, 2 years in a row. |

From 7:30pm to 9:00pm

The evening then continues with special effects maestro, C.J. Goldman. C.J. has been a professional special effects makeup artist for 18 years. He has worked as an artist and designer on such films as 300, Dawn of the Dead, Silent Hill and the upcoming Conan the Barbarian. He has also contributed to many Quebec films and television productions such as Incendies, CRAZY and 19-2. He won a Gemini for best achievement in makeup and has been nominated three times for the Genie and Jutras awards.

C.J. will bring his perspective as an "old school" practical artist to Game Artisans Workshop. He will discuss the inner workings of his trade and how it ties in with today's world of digital art and technology. Various pieces of his work will be on display during the event. |
